Dan and Pam Engel – Mission Partner Profile

My wife and I both grew up in Southern Saskatchewan. I grew up both, in the city, and around the farm.

Dan and Pam Engel - Field Missionaries with NCEM

                      Dan and Pam Engel

In my teens my youth group did some missions work at a Bible camp in northern Saskatchewan. This changed my life and I said that I would love to come back. Who knew that over twenty years later God would bring me back to the north.

He had equipped me with a solid understanding of the Bible through my three years at Millar College and also molded me through various life situations. I hold my class 1A license, and have experience driving all types of vehicles.

Pam had a hard life growing up, but God was there every step of the way. Through unique circumstances Pam had the opportunity to go overseas doing mission work. In this she found out that she has a knack for languages. Pam was able to obtain TESOL certification before teaching in Central America. She had the opportunity to learn Spanish while serving in Central America.

Both Pam and I have our Education Assistant training and both hold a level 1 food safe. Why all this experience and skills? God began equipping us for working and serving in missions.

We have been married for nearly eleven years. For medical reasons we are unable to have kids, but have a passion for them. God gave us abilities that help us in ours day to day operations on the reserve. Currently we work with Children and Youth on a reserve in northern Saskatchewan.

Our Partnership with EYMI has been very rewarding. We have the opportunity to teach creation to these young minds and they are loving it. EYMI has supplied us with material and equipment to share it. We have used the projector and DVD player numerous times. We feel blessed by all the support that EYMI have been over the last several years and look forward to the future as we continue to respond to God’s call the share His Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations.

The Engels are temporarily on leave. (Dec/2022).

Ryan Munchinsky – Missionary Profile

Ryan Munchinsky

Ryan Munchinsky

Ryan grew up in a Christian family, and was taught by his parents about God from an early age. While still young, he believed in Jesus Christ, putting his trust in Him as the only Saviour, and was baptized under water. During his teenage years, Ryan actively participated in the Bible Quizzing program, memorizing large amounts of the Scriptures, which the Lord used to help him mature in the faith and become more like Christ.

During university, Ryan developed an interest in Japan, and went on to teach English there for two years after graduating. While in the country, Ryan recognized the poor spiritual state of the country, as the Japanese church is dying out, and most people living there have never heard the Gospel of Jesus. These things caused him to cry out to God on behalf of the Japanese people, and began asking the Lord whether he should become a missionary to Japan.

Upon his return to Canada, God made it clear that Ryan should indeed return to Japan to spread the Gospel and make disciples. Ryan now serves with OM (Operation Mobilization) in the Mie prefecture of Japan. His ministry focuses on evangelism and discipleship multiplication. Matthew 28 teaches that all believers are called to make disciples. As such, Ryan trains Christians to pass on the things they have learned to the next generation of believers.

Watch for reports from Ryan from time to time.

He would appreciate your prayers as he is studying Japanese and looking for  opportunities to share Christ whenever he is with the Japanese.

Since May 2014 the ICMDA NIHSJ lead by Anil & Shalini Cherian has completed the training of 36 Clinical Officers (Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Public Health), 16 Diploma Nurses and 15 Midwives (The leadership team also had Jasper Damaris an M.Sc. Nurse from CMC Vellore). All 67 students have since successfully completed their courses and qualified by taking the qualifying examination of the National Health Professionals Examination Board. ICMDA has closed this project as of July 2018.

Considering how war-torn and bereft of medical services the South Sudan is, this is an exciting and important work! Read MORE of the Background Report.
