Another Personal Review of “God of Wonders”
Nature-lovers will enjoy the photography. (However, I found the switches to different types of creatures in the introduction too fast to really enjoy the details about each one).
This video features great quotes from the Bible, and from real scientists with names and positions provided, discussing key concepts about the need for an eternal creator when they study many aspects of nature and the universe.
Oh, so many, many impressive facts!
First, the video showed the Creator as a God of Great Power. Here’s a few brief snatches of quotes:
There are 16 million thunderstorms per year. Lightening fertilizes the earth with nitrogen, which is important for plant growth.
Our sun is 27,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit at the center! And there are many more, even greater suns in the galaxies! We get enormous amounts of energy from our sun! It is huge: the size of 1 million earths! But there are still larger stars. Wow!
Just imagine then, how the Bible tells about God’s creating all these things, and adds in an off-hand way, “He made the stars also.”
The other galaxies have more stars than we are able to count; yet God has named each one!
There is vast, immeasurable energy in all of nature.
This video goes on to show the Creator as a God of Great Wisdom. Just take for instance, our DNA. These tiny items in our cells, carry massive storage of information about every detail in our lives, a complete, separate program for our individual design. Our DNA could never create us like this from random steps in nature. In fact, each human cell is like a miniature city. Furthermore, no seed has ever been created by humans!
God is our Designer! A very intelligent and wise one at that!
The examples of His wisdom changed to flowers and butterflies. There is great value in flowers and plants for our oxygen, and many incredible creatures speak of our Creator’s vast wisdom. One wondrous example are the butterflies. There are 18,000 butterfly species that make a fascinating study! Yet mankind alone is created in God’s image – that is, with a spiritual nature. We, like God, are moral beings. His moral laws are written into our consciences. (So much fodder for deep thought in those points alone!)
This video goes on to show God to be a God of love.
Our rebellion against God has produced all that is evil in our world. (Hmm… yet how many people say they can’t believe in God because of the evil in the world. Sheer ignorance!) God Himself, as Jesus Christ, stepped into our human history to redeem us from our high treason. How awesome is that?
The great gospel presentation makes such good sense after seeing God’s creative power and wisdom and love. I think I need to watch this video again whenever I’m feeling weak and discouraged. A great antidote for anyone depressed and feeling worthless, for I found myself inspired with our great God of Wonders. I now want to work harder at worshiping and trusting Him on a continual basis!
